'The trouble with Westminster is that it is a very tiny, introverted world and almost anyone who comes from north of Watford is seen as somehow breaking into that world. So there is a kind of metropolitan provincialism at work. Because it is such a small world, they think that anyone from outside it is a curiosity and they tend to put them into that special category of 'novelty value'.
