On the 27 th June 2005, Jim Wallace resigned and Deputy First Minister and Minister for Enterprise & Lifelong Learning. This lead to a reshuffle of the Liberal Democrat Ministers in the Executive.
Nicol Stephen was appointed Deputy First Minister and Minister for Enterprise & Lifelong Learning in place of Jim Wallace.
Tavish Scott was promoted to Minister for Transport & Telecommunications in place of Nicol Stephen.
George Lyon was promoted to Deputy Minister, replacing Tavish Scott in his two briefs as Deputy Minister for Finance & Public Service Reform and Deputy Minister for Parliamentary Business.
Euan Robson was sacked as Deputy Minister for Education & Young People with Robert Brown being promoted to Deputy Minister in his place.
For Labour, Lewis MacDonald and Rhona Brankin exchanged portfolios with the former being appointed Deputy Minister for Health & Community Care and the latter Deputy Minister for Environment & Rural Development.
On the 4 th October 2006, Colin Boyd QC resigned as Lord Advocate.
