A full-time writer for the World Socialist Web Site since it was launched in 1997, Marsden writes extensively on the major political and social developments in Europe and the Middle East. | Julie Hyland, 42, has been a member of the International Committee since 1979, when she joined its youth organisation, the Young Socialists. Hyland stood as a parliamentary candidate for the Socialist Equality Party in the 1997 General Election. She is a member of the Editorial Board of the World Socialist Web Site and a full-time writer on political and social developments in Britain. Born in London, she is married with an adult son.

Born in Manchester, he was formerly employed in call centre work before becoming a full-time carer.

| Harvinder Singh Thind, 35, was born in Leeds, West Yorkshire, to parents who emigrated from the Punjab. He became a member of the International Committee in 1992. He was a Commissioner on the Workers Inquiry into the killing of Jamaican immigrant Joy Gardner during her attempted deportation in 1995. He is a regular writer for the World Socialist Web Site on the consequences of the British occupation in Afghanistan. Married, he is employed as a primary school classroom assistant.
