'For SSP members the poll indicates party support at around 1 per cent and although this contrasts with the 5.7 per cent scored in the most recent council by election in Dunbartonshire, it indicates the serious challenge facing the party.' Ken Ferguson in Scottish Socialist Voice, July 2006. |

3. Howard Chandler | ![]() |
| Scottish Socialist Party | ||
| Throughout his career Howard has been fascinated by the issues that inhibit improvement - whether those issues involve improving a scientific process, improving the educational experience of the students he teaches, or improving the quality of life of ordinary working folk. Howard is a firm
believer in the need to empower people and give them the tools that will enable them to tackle the issues that govern their lives and work. He, therefore, calls for full participative democracy by an informed and engaged population; and is helping the SSP change the way in which Scottish politics works from the grass roots upwards.
