| Richard Barker was born in Edinburgh in 1974 and educated at Cowdenbeath primary school, St Bee's School in Cumbria and Aberdeen University where he graduated with a MA in English literature. He was Deputy President and then President of the National Union of Students from 1997 until 2000 then worked as a Press Officer for Help the Aged from 2000 until 2002, before becoming a research officer for the Labour Party from 2002 until his election in 2003. His unexpected election as the seventh Regional list MSP, from second place on the Labour list, was due to the losses of Aberdeen North and Dundee East to the SNP which was compensated for by two regional seats. Both his parents are Anglican priests and his hobbies include the Anglican Church and choral singing. | Marlyn Glen was born in Dundee in 1951 and educated at Kirkton High School in Dundee and St Andrews University, Dundee University and the Open University, graduating with diplomas in education, special education and a degree in phychology. She worked as a teacher in Liverpool and the as and English teacher at ravenspark Academy in Irvine and then as a Learning Support teacher at Baldragon Academy in Dundee. She is a member of the EIS and was a member of the Executive of the Scottish Labour Party. She selected to contest the Westminster seat of Dundee East when John McAllion retired to Holyrood in 2001 but Labour HQ forced a re-run which was won by Iain Luke. Marlyn Glen was second on the Labour North East Scotland list in 1999 and was first in 2003 when she was elected as the third North East Scotland MSP. | Kevin Hutchens was born in Peterborough and educated at Orton Longueville School, the University of Kent and University of Wales. Qualified in Community Work he moved to Scotland in 1987 and eventually came to work in Stonehaven in 1989. He is employed as a Community Development Officer for People with Learning Disabilities. He is on four Boards of Directors including the United Nations Association of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Langstane Housing Association Limited. He became Chairperson of the Kincardine and Mearns Community Safety Committee and is Chair of kincardine Branch Labour Party.. His personal interests are History, Theatre, Cinema, Walking and Travel. He has walked the West Highland Way and increased his love of this beautiful nation of Scotland. Locally he has held several offices in the Labour Party and was local co-ordinator for the Yes Yes Campaign for the Scottish Parliament. He is an active member of the Transport and General Workers Union. | Leonard Ironside was born in Aberdeen and educated at Hilton Academy. He worked as Area Manager (North of Scotland) for Parkinsons Society. Cllr Len Ironside is the Labour Group Leader on Aberdeen Council. He was a Grampian Regional Cllr before standing for the City of Aberdeen Council. In 1995 he had a majority of 734 over the SNP which was reduced to 83 in 2003. He is a m ember of the Guild of Burgesses of Aberdeen; Fellow of the R.S.A.; C.B.E. Special Interests: Economic Development, Social Work, Coaching Sport for the Disabled. Member of Board of Governors for the Robert Gordon University, Fundraising for various charities. His interests include Wrestling: European Lightweight Champion, Scottish Welterweight Champion, Commonwealth Lightweight Champion 1978-1980. After-dinner Speaking Coaching people with disabilities in athletics/swimming/weight training. Plays the piano and drums.
