Danica Gilland (Not standing on Glasgow list) |
![]() |
| Liberal Democrat | ||
| Danica means morning star, a fact her boyfriend will tell you most definitely isn't true! Born in Livingston, Danica lived in West Lothian until she was 21 when she escaped to the bright lights of Edinburgh and a job in the glitz and glam of one of Scotland's leading producing theatres. A career in the arts was inevitable for Danica, both of her parents are musicians and she grew up in a house full of instruments and noise. Not able to sing or play a note herself, she turned to acting and attended West Lothian Youth Theatre as a teenager, however a career on the stage was not to be as she soon realised she was too good at organising and running the other essential parts of theatre life. During her 5 years at the Lyceum Danica developed a strong interest in politics and being a life long Lib Dem voter the next step of party membership was inevitable. Whilst still in Edinburgh she was involved in the Liberal Democrat Youth and Students, too old for that now she has entered the grown up branch of the party. A new job, running a young people's theatre in North Glasgow, meant a relocation to Glasgow and finding a city that she loves (maybe not the one way streets) and one that she has very much taken to her heart. Danica's partner, Neil, is a Labour Party (boo!) activist which often leads to an interesting debate or two, this is something that she loves and often wins! Recent electoral experience | ||
