![]() | 'John Simpson, the BBC's world affairs editor, was travelling in the joint convoy of Kurdish fighters and US Special Forces in northern Iraq early yesterday when it was attacked by an American F-15 Eagle. The bombing south-east of Irbil killed at least 17 Kurdish fighters and Kamaran Abdurazaq Muhamed, Simpson's 25-year-old translator, who had been working for the BBC since mid-March.
