Heather has lived in Glasgow all her life. She attended the Glasgow High School for Girls and trained as a Registered General Nurse at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, qualifying in 1980. Heather has worked in the NHS and in the pharmaceutical industry.
A mother of two, she is a career woman, passionate about Conservative politics Ð part of the new school conservatives. Heather is standing for theÊ Westminster Parliament to bring her experience and energy to shaping tomorrow's Scotland, bringing real world skills and experience from home and from business.
In May 2007 she stoodÊ as the Conservative candidate in the Scottish Parliamentary elections for Glasgow Maryhill.
In 2007 Heather co-founded theÊ ÒGlasgow Business InitiativeÓ. Working with Bill Aitken and David MundellÕs Office, Westminster, the Glasgow Business Initiative (GBI) aims to allow business to engage with Conservative thinking in an informal, non-political environment, on topics that are relevant to business in Scotland today.
The GBI is keen to attract people from across the political spectrum to its meetings, which are held on or near the last Monday of every month. It is hoped that this forum will be interactive, with suggestions for topics and speakers welcome from all those who attend. Heather very much hopes that businesses within Glasgow South WestÊ Ð large and small Ð will attend GBI meetings.
HeatherÊ is delighted to have been selected as the Westminster candidate for Glasgow South West and welcomes the opportunity to give something back to the community, supporting them by raising their concerns or issues relevant to them. Through the aims and values of the Conservative Party and its policiesÊÊshe intends to demonstrate howÊ Conservative Party policies are relevant to all and how the Conservative Party can, and will, deliver on our policies and how these policies will contribute to a better future for herÊ constituents andÊ their families. The Conservative Party offers not only strong leadership but also the policies to build aÊ sound future for Britain.Ê
