Stewart joined the Conservative Party in 2001. He has served as a district councillor, and as chairman of the local Conservative Association, campaigned successfully for the re-election of the sitting MP and oversaw a period of election success at District Council level.
Stewart was born in Glasgow but was brought up in Brazil, returning to Scotland in his teens to complete his education. He is still fluent in Portuguese.
On leaving school he joined a major Scottish bank, qualifying professionally as a banker and subsequently as a Chartered Management Accountant.
Stewart enjoys outdoor pursuits, particularly hill walking, off road driving and skiing with his elder daughter. In his younger days he was a keen rugby player leading his local team as captain and also as chairman of the sports club. Nowadays his main hobby is motorcycling with his younger daughter and travel.
StewartÕs other passion is his church life. He has taken an active role in his local church which has included being part of the music group and running a sound desk as well as leading services and speaking from time to time.
Stewart Geddes is 45, married and has two daughters aged 15 and 12.
