saltire shield'The way Labour is behaving is instantly recognisable to anyone who has observed local politics in West Central Scotland. Upon election, the first thing Labour councillors do, after carving up the committee convenerships and the freebies, is regroup into factions.'

Graham Simpson is 44 years old and was born in Aberdeen. He moved about a lot as a child an eventually settled in Carlisle where he went to secondary school. He left school and went straight onto the dole before becoming a journalist, a job which he has done ever since. The family moved to East Kilbride in 1986 and he lives in Stewartfield with his wife and two daughters. In his spare time he enjoys hill walking and golf. He contested East Kilbridge at the Scottish Parliament elections in 2007 and was elected as an East Kilbride Councillor.
He said: "Labour came to power promising to clean up politics. They haven't done that. They told us they were going to save the NHS. They haven't done that. And they vowed to overhaul education. They certainly haven't done that. The only party that can fix the mess is the Conservatives and I'll be fighting to persuade people in this area of that between now and the general election."
