The Next Westminster Election
 | 'A senior Labour MSP said: 'People are now talking about Wendy resigning. It's a question they are asking. Everyone is demoralised.' Another Labour MSP said: 'Enough is enough. She has to go.' However, another friend of the embattled leader said of Brown: 'A lot of people at Holyrood and at Westminster are not happy with him.' A second said: 'The problem is Gordon's a ditherer.' A third source who is close to Alexander said of Brown's aides: 'They just don't give a f*** about Scotland. All they care about is the next general election'.'

Candidates and Constituency Assessments

'The Parliamentary Union of England and Scotland 1707' by Walter Thomas Monnington (1902-1976)
This section will be updated for the next Westminster election which is expected to be held in May or June of 2009. However, it is not impossible that new Prime Minister Gordon Brown will hold a snap election if Labour's fortunes revive.
The constituency profiles will contain:
- A list of candidates with short biographies and photographs where possible
- A comparison of the new Westminster constituencies which were introduced in 2005 with the current Scottish parliamentray constituencies
- The ranking on each party's target list and the swing required for each party to win the seat
- Previous constituency and list results from the 2005 Westminster election and notional results from 2001
- Links to any relevant websites
Profiles not marked "updated" may not contain fully up to date information. If you have any additional candidate profiles, photographs or corrections, please contact me.
Scottish Constituencies
Notional 2001 election results for the new Scottish Westminster constituencies were calculated by Martin Baxter http://www.electoralcalculus.co.uk/ and I am indebted to him for allowing me to reproduce his figures on this site. The notional results have also been calculated by Professor David Denver of Lancaster University for the BBC, ITN, PA News and Sky News. These figure are also reproduced here for comparison.
