Sandy selected as candidate for Moray

From the Labour Party, 4 th April 2006

Last night Labour selected Sandy Keith, a local supermarket worker and community campaigner as their candidate for the Moray by-election. The father-of-two, who has been a councillor for Elgin's Bishopmill East ward for around a decade and who works at his local supermarket said he was delighted to be nominated.

Speaking after his selection: "I am honoured to have been selected by the local Labour party members in my community. I have been a local campaigner and a local councillor in the community for a number of years. I'm proud of our area and want to take my campaigning work to the Scottish Parliament.

"This is a by-election that nobody wanted. Margaret Ewing was a respected local figure and worked hard for the constituency. She will be sadly missed. But it is now time for Moray to have a fresh start. That is why between now and polling day I will be campaigning hard on the issues that matter to people locally"
