The maps for the 1974 and 1979 General Elections were scanned from a map published in 1979 by the SNP Research Department.
The Scottish maps for 1983 to 2001 were modified from UK maps which were kindly provided by David Boothroyd.

The Scottish maps from 2005 are based on an original crafted by Margo Biagi.

The individual council maps were created using information provided by the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland.
