saltire shield'Out Skerries lie to the east of Whalsay and about 10 miles from the Mainland. They comprise two main islands, Housay and Bruray, plus several smaller ones, including Grunay with its lighthouse. Skerries only covers 243ha and are famouus for their migrant birds in spring and autumn.'

North Benbecula is in the Orkney & Shetland Westminster parliamentary seat (held by Lib Dem Alistair Carmichael MP) and in the Shetland Scottish parliamentary seat (held by Lib Dem Tavish Scott MSP).

I, ALASDAIR MACEACHEN, being the Depute Returning Officer for the Local Government Election for the North Benbecula Ward do hereby declare that the total number of votes cast for each candidate in the contested Council By-Election held on 21 March 2002 for the North Benbecula Ward were as follows:
