This election was not a by-election. Due to the death of one of the candidates, the election in ward 14 (Stevenston North) of North Ayrshire was not held on the 5 th of April, but postponed until the 1st of June.

The ward was a four-way fight between Labour, the Scottish National Party and two Independents. Labour took the ward with 52% of the vote and a majority of 254 over the SNP. The turnout was 34.7 %.

I am grateful to Colin Gray for providing information about this election.
