There was a by-election for the North Morningside/Grange ward of the City of Edinburgh Council on the 9 th of October 2003 following the election of Cllr Mike Pringle as MSP for Edinburgh South on the 1 st of May 2003.
North Morningside/Grange is in the Edinburgh South Westminster parliamentary seat (held by Labour's Nigel Griffiths MP) and in the Edinburgh South Scottish parliamentary seat (won by Liberal Democrat Mike Pringle MSP in May 2003).
