There was a by-election for the Lumphinnans & Lochgelly South ward of Fife Council on the 10 th of June 2004 following the resignation of Cllr Grace Gray in April 2004.
Lumphinnans & Lochgelly South is in the new Kirkcaldy & Cowdenbeath Westminster parliamentary seat (held since May 2005 by Labour's Gordon Brown MP) and in the Dunfermline East Scottish parliamentary seat (held by Labour Co-op's Helen Eadie MSP).

A BY-ELECTION for the Lumphinnans and Lochgelly South ward will be held on Thursday 10th June 2004.
The election Ð brought about by the recent resignation of Councillor Grace Gray Ð will take place at the same time as the European Elections from 7am to 10pm. Polling stations will be at Lochgelly South and Lumphinnans Primary Schools.
However, anyone wishing to vote by post rather than in person has until 5pm on Wednesday 2nd June to submit an application for a postal/proxy vote.
