Broughty Ferry West (Dundee) 8 th February 1996

In the second by-election of the year, the Tories held on to their safe seat of Broughty Ferry West in Dundee taking 50.2% of the vote, up from 46.2% in April 1995. Although their majority over Labour only increased from 297 to 305, the percentage majority increased from 18.1 to 23.5%. The Labour vote slipped to 26.7% while the SNP, who did not contest this seat in 1995 came third with 20.1%.
