saltire shield'The most extraordinary result among several surprising ones in the UK came in Strathclyde West. It should have been an easy win for Miss Valerie Friel, the Labour candidate, but Mr Adam Ferguson, the Conservative candidate emerged with a majority of 1827 after a recount.'
