Parties have mounted late appeals for votes as campaigning drew to a close in two crunch by-elections.
In Labour's biggest electoral test since the May general election, the party is defending a majority of more than 13,000 in Livingston, the Westminster seat made vacant by the death of Robin Cook, and a majority of more than 5,000 in Glasgow Cathcart, the Holyrood by-election brought about by Lord Watson's resignation.
The SNP talked up its chances in both seats but some observers are predicting a lower turnout in Cathcart than in Livingston.
One reason being mooted was the shortness of the Cathcart campaign.
The Cathcart by-election was only triggered three weeks ago when Lord Watson quit Holyrood after pleading guilty to fire-raising.
Turnout in Cathcart will not be helped by the weather.
The PA WeatherCentre said Glasgow could expect short-lived showers in the morning with bright periods in between.
The afternoon would be brighter but rain would arrive in the evening, although this would not reach the Edinburgh area until later.
The Glasgow Cathcart candidates are: Richard Cook (Conservative); Christopher Creighton (Independent); Charlie Gordon (Labour); Pat Lally (Independent); Bryan McCormack (UKIP Scotland); Arthur Sanderson (Liberal Democrat); Ronnie Stevenson (Scottish Socialist Party); Chloe Stewart (Green); Maire Whitehead (Scottish National Party).
The Livingston candidates are: Peter Adams (UKIP Scotland); John Allman (Alliance For Change); Melville Brown (Independent); Angela Constance (Scottish National Party); James Devine (Labour); Charles Dundas (Liberal Democrat); Brian Gardner (Socialist Party of Great Britain); Gordon Lindhurst (Conservative); Steven Nimmo (Scottish Socialist Party); David Robertson (Green).
