SNP Move Up To Second Place In Ayr And Rising
Labour Slump Into Third Place

A Press Release from the Scottish National Party

Commenting on the Scottish Opinion poll published in the Daily Record today [Thursday 9 th March 2000] - which shows the Scottish National Party moving up into second place, ahead of Labour and closing on the Tories - SNP Deputy Leader Mr John Swinney MSP said:

"Now a poll in the Labour-supporting Daily Record shows the SNP moving up into second place in Ayr and rising, with Labour slumping to third place.

"This is a huge embarrassment to Tony Blair as he arrives in Scotland.

"SNP support is rising strongly in Ayr, which is now a two-horse race between the SNP and the Tories. Only the SNP can defeat the Tories, by bridging the narrow gap that remains in the coming week." March 9 th 2000
