Lib-Dems pledge to overcome transport gridlock

From the Ayrshire Post

LIBERAL Democrat MSP Ross Finnie this week pledged to overÐcome the gridlock in transport policy that stretched back to the 'ill thought out' Tory road building schemes of the 1980s.

And he called for the need for an honest debate about transport needs.
Speaking in support of Liberal Democrat candidate Stuart Ritchie, the Scottish Cabinet Minister also turned on the SNP.
He said: "How will the SNP put more money into transport when their `penny for Scotland' campaign only included investment in health, education and housing? "There is not one penny more for transÐport and I again invite the Nationalists to clarify another gaping hole in their finances." Earlier, Mr Ritchie had hit out at the `hi-jacking' of the by-election by both sides in the Section 28 issue.
He claimed: "This election should be about the jobs, health, pensions and the education of the people of Ayr, Prestwick and Troon - and who can best represent their interests in the Scottish Parliament.
"It is about Carrick Day Centre, Prestwick Airport, the Troon ferry terminal and other local issues and it is not just about Clause 28."
